How this page was made. Every price and claim below was read from each vendor's own pages on 19 September 2026 and is linked to its source; where a vendor does not publish a figure we say so. emailcampaign.ai is one of the alternatives listed and we say where it fits and where it does not. Smartlead is built for agencies: unlimited mailboxes and warm-up from $32.50 a month, client workspaces at $29 each, the app on your own domain, partner-supplied Google and Outlook mailboxes, and a placement-test product. The reasons people search for alternatives are consistent across its reviews: support that takes days, cancellation friction, warm-up pausing without warning, and the fact that the mailboxes come from partners rather than from Smartlead itself.
Why people look for a Smartlead alternative
- Trustpilot 3.0 from 141 reviews with 46 percent one-star; themes are terrible support, buggy product and cancellation practices (source)
- G2 reviewers report support taking two to three days (source)
- Campaigns failing to send, warm-up pausing without warning and analytics lagging are the operational complaints in a 2026 review round-up (source)
- Mailboxes are supplied by partners (Zapmail, InfraInbox, Mailreef, AeroSend) at $4.50 to $9 a mailbox plus domains, so infrastructure problems are a second vendor's problems (source)
- White-label must be requested through chat support on Pro and above, at $29 a client workspace (source)

How to choose
- Decide who owns the domains and accounts. Some vendors keep ownership or administrator access; if you may leave, you want yours in your own name.
- Count the year-two price, not the launch price. Several infrastructure vendors step prices up after twelve months or sell pre-warmed mailboxes that expire.
- Ask what happens when a domain burns. Replacement policy, and whether the vendor pauses the sender or quietly suppresses your recipients.
- Check the review sites for cancellation stories. They are the most consistent complaint in this category across vendors.
- Send at 8 to 10 a day per mailbox whatever you buy. No vendor's mailbox survives 100 a day to strangers.
Questions, answered straight
- Which Smartlead alternative is cheapest per client for an agency?
- Woodpecker's white-label client reporting is $5 a month per active client plus a $27 agency panel. Saleshandy includes white-label from its $149 Scale plan with no per-client fee stated. emailcampaign.ai includes client doors in the plan and charges infrastructure at cost.
- Which alternative supplies the mailboxes itself rather than through partners?
- emailcampaign.ai creates Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 accounts and self-hosted servers itself, under your ownership. Saleshandy and Instantly provision under their own programmes; Salesforge through its sibling brands.
- Is Instantly better than Smartlead for agencies?
- Instantly has more reviews and a larger community; Smartlead has the per-client workspace and the app on your domain. Both have low Trustpilot scores relative to G2. The three-way comparison below sets them side by side with emailcampaign.ai on infrastructure, white-label depth and price.
